Synopsis
A young scientist is catapulted into the middle of the Civil War where he can not return. He takes on a new identity in this new era where he does not know how to live. Through the help and guidance of some good people, and encounters with some not-so-good people, he painfully learns how to survive in this strange land and strange time. He unwittingly gets involved in a smuggling operation, Indian battles, gunfights, con men, lawmen, and eventually the Texas Rangers. A friendship with them leads him to join them. All these encounters, and what he learns from them, prepares him for a life in the old west and the adventures as a Ranger.
