E. A. Padilla's new novel Rule One Twenty, paints a picture of the "Agency," a long-running and finely tuned government machine that operates under the premise that while protecting the national security of the United States, "...some things are just more important than individual rights and freedoms." The cold blooded efficiency with which he Agency eliminates any verified or even possible threat to their covert operations is laid out in Padilla's first chapter. From there, international leaders, stateside bigwigs, and simple common folks are all potential targets as we are taken on a wild ride of twists and turns, mystery and murder. Like any good read, Rule One Twenty is a hard one to put down once you dive in.

Raised in a small agricultural community in Northern California, then briefly living in the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, Orange & San Diego Counties, combined with his experience as an insurance claims adjustor, gave Padilla a unique point of view. He also travelled throughout the US for disasters (floods, earthquakes, tornadoes & fire storms) as well as handled improbable injuries, rape and even murder. His occupation even took him into court rooms, and required a deep understanding about the legal process. It's no surprise that his reading influences were early Stephen King, Tom Clancy and John Grisham. Padilla is an avid moviegoer. His love of movies helps him to provide vivid mental images. He also has a layered educational background (started in Physics but graduated with a BA in Economics and minor in Psychology). Using these unrelated disciplines provides his readers with multiple points of views; rich and balanced, while avoiding being overly complicated yet still entertaining. He uses historically accurate facts and weaves the reader through unpredictable action and mayhem with surprising twists and turns. The sequel to Rule One Twenty is titled "Sentinel Event" will be available for purchase the fourth quarter of 2017.
