North Street Book Prize Semi-Finalist
Black and White Magazine Winner of the Spotlight Award for Travel Photography
Have you ever wanted to drop everything and travel around the world? What would that be like?
Pete Hendley, takes us on that journey.
In 1986, after the death of his father, Pete Hendley left the United States and traveled the world. What he experienced and photographed led to a new acceptance of his loss and changed his life. He took thousands of images on 35mm film, although he didn't actually see most of them until many years later. Presented here is his story and 104 of those photos, in both black and white and color, depicting a powerful view of a world marked by both pain and beauty.
The photograph "Men on Train", included in the book, is the 2019 Winner of the Spotlight Award for Travel Photography in Black and White Magazine, December issue #136. Pete Hendley has also published photographs with The Travel Channel, Travel & Leisure, USA Today, Forbes, Detroit Free Press, The Cut, Virtuoso and more and is a stock photographer for Getty Images and Alamy.
