Synopsis

In simple, evocative language that both new and experienced readers of poetry will appreciate, the poems in Jeff Coomer’s first book explore enduring themes of memory and regret, the nature of our relationships with those around us, and the tension that comes from living a happy, ordinary life while yearning for something bigger. At times ironic, wistful, and humorous in tone, the poems in this collection will strike a chord with anyone who’s ever been stuck in traffic, searched for the meaning in chance encounters, or dawdled away an afternoon sitting by a creek.

This book includes three poems read by Garrison Keillor on the long-running public radio program The Writer's Almanac.

A propos du livre

À propos de l'auteur

Jeff Coomer grew up in the middle-class suburbs east of Baltimore. After receiving a BA in political science from Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland, he embarked on a long business career in which he eventually wound up serving as the chief technology executive for a large division of a Fortune 500 company. He and his wife, Susan, raised two children on eighteen wooded acres in the rural countryside of central Maryland, the setting for a number of his poems. After several years in Charlottesville, Virginia, they now reside in Chestertown, Maryland, where they met as students more than forty years ago.
