The work was delegated. Ownership wasn’t.
Ownership is not assigned. It is claimed.
You can have talented people, clear goals, and everyone doing their job—and still fall short of what your organization could achieve.
Initiatives stall. Decisions return to the leader. Departments pursue their own priorities, even when success depends on working together.
And in a world of accelerating change and uncertainty, the challenges that matter most rarely fit neatly within one person's responsibilities or one department's boundaries.
What if the answer isn't better delegation—but a different way of mobilizing people?
In Don’t Delegate. Mobilize., Sergio Sedas draws on more than thirty years of experience working with leaders and organizations to introduce a practical approach to achieving extraordinary results: creating the conditions where people see a shared Possibility, understand why it matters, take ownership, and mobilize others to make it real.
Through eight principles organized around three movements, you'll discover how to:
CREATE THE POSSIBILITY
Design from the future you want to create—not just what today's circumstances make seem reasonable.
Confront the gap between current reality and that future, and declare a Possibility worth pursuing.
MOBILIZE THE PEOPLE
Connect people to a purpose that matters to them, not simply a goal they've been assigned.
Engage people across organizational boundaries and build coalitions with the authority, resources, knowledge, and influence to make things happen.
GENERATE MOMENTUM
Turn commitment into action, early wins, and measurable results.
Spread ownership so people continue making decisions, solving problems, and moving the Possibility forward—without everything depending on you.
Delegation creates one owner. Mobilization creates a movement.
This isn't about asking people to work harder or do more. It's about bringing out their collective intelligence, initiative, and commitment to achieve results that no individual or department could deliver alone.
The question isn't simply what you can accomplish through others. It's what you can mobilize people to accomplish together.
