Synopsis

Born into communist Romania to devout Christian parents, Peter Dugulescu’s life mirrored that of his nation. After rejecting God for the rewards of secular life, he found himself empty and dissatisfied. A sincere pastor moved his heart, and he became one of the hated “Repenters” who practiced their Christian faith despite government opposition. Called to minister to the beleaguered Christians of Romania, he rapidly became a thorn in the side of dictator Nicolae Ceausescu, who ordered his death. Despite numerous assassination attempts, he miraculously survived to help bring down the communist system, armed only with faith, prayer, and forgiveness. The Christian revolution ignited a political one as the emblem of communism was torn from the fabric of the Romanian flag and the nation, leaving a hole that only divine healing could fill. The work of rebuilding the nation under God, and the healing of the many lives injured through those decades, continued for “Peter the Repenter” until his death in 2008. This true story, more compelling than fiction, holds up a mirror to America, a warning of the dangers and reminder of the hope for this nation. It also speaks to the heart of all the oppressed people of faith. Originally published in Romanian under the title “They Scheduled My Death” by Pastor Petru (Peter) Dugulescu, a second edition was published in English in 2004. This third edition of 2018 allows this story to once again be told, now in paperback and Kindle e-book.
