MELODY W. MILLER, M.A., is a retired counselor who was thrust into end of life issues by the emergency guardianship and conservatorship of her father. After painful estrangement involving elder fraud, Melody and her brothers experienced reconciliation with their father for the last thirteen months of his life. The family recognized answered prayer and God turning to good what others had intended for evil (Genesis 50:20). Even so, Melody realized many of her family’s difficulties could have been avoided with more extensive pre-planning on the part of her parents. It became her passion to help older adults organize their affairs so that their grown children could honor and care for them as the Bible instructs. HERITAGE OF HOPE, a non-profit, was launched to inspire and equip adults to identify crucial decisions and complete the essential tasks to—Finish Life Well. “We began as a church ministry focused on the needs precipitated by our mortality. We do not presume to have all the answers nor do we advise our participants what to do. Instead, our approach has been to follow the biblical admonition to obtain wise counsel from multiple sources. In this Workbook, in the Heritage of Hope Video Series, and on our website, FinishLifeWell.org, you will discover a multitude of counselors and reference materials to assist you in making wise decisions so that you might FINISH LIFE WELL.” Video and Publication Editor LISA M. CLEAR, B.S., also developed a new passion in response to her father's aging process. When Alzheimer's began stealing his stories, Lisa set about learning videography to preserve those stories for her own children. Today, this former industrial engineer helps families capture their stories for future generations through her business, Clear Memories. Lisa Clear also filmed, edited, and produced the entire six-part HERITAGE OF HOPE VIDEO SERIES. This was a particularly challenging project because of its broad scope, live audiences and multiple discussion formats. Not limited to videography, Lisa Clear also did the Cover Design, the Interior Layout and prepared the HERITAGE OF HOPE WORKBOOK for publication.
