Synopsis

Drawn from talks at the Italian Academy's annual public symposia in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day, these ten lively and fascinating interdisciplinary essays--on the Roman Ghetto, Jews in the U.S. during the Fascist era, music in Mussolini's Italy, and the persecution of homosexuals, the Roma and Sinti peoples, the disabled, women, and children--reveal much about the period. This contribution to the larger discussion on discrimination, antisemitism, and crimes against humanity is one way for our community--of scholars, and, indeed, of humans--to ensure that memories will not fade, that facts will not be forgotten, and that images will not be erased.
