Biographie de l'auteur

Richard Crooks is an ordained American Baptist minister who has been in ministry since 1983, and has served a number of churches and as campus minister in college ministry. He holds Master’s degrees from Central Baptist Theological Seminary and Hebrew Union College. Richard and his wife, Nola, moved to his hometown to offer encouragement and support to his aging parents in their declining years. Daily participation in support and caregiving served as Richard’s primary calling during those several years. In the midst of that work, Richard began work on this volume, sharing insights and scriptural reflections out of his own experiences in the ministry of caregiving, as well as from interactions as a pastor for others dealing with a variety of caregiving circumstances. In this process, he became aware of the need for supportive Christian material for individuals serving in this vital role. He has insightful awareness of the dramatic impact caregiving can have on the caregiver, those the caregivers serve, and the various families of those individuals. His own personal struggles and contacts in ministry bring personal impact to these pages. Richard does not claim to have all the answers, nor to have handled all of the issues perfectly himself, but believes it is important to have support, resources and tools from those who have shared the struggle to help loved ones through difficult times in life. The father of two, he remarried in 2004, and is step father of four children. Previous publications are a two volume set of devotions to help those dealing with the impact of divorce in their lives. The first volume of this set, Autumn and Winter: Seasons of Loss and Sorrow, was published in 2012, and the second volume, Spring and Summer: Seasons of Renewal and Warmth was published in 2013.
