Fox Light, Magic Hidden in Plain Sight is a collection of life stories about magic too often overlooked. I believe we enter this world as Spirit and clothe ourselves in human bodies. As we go through life, the sparks of magic are in plain sight, but we are taught as children that what cannot be explained with science or the five senses does not exist. Our eyes are slowly blindered. But I believe when we are courageous or curious enough to peel off the blinders, we can see our experiences differently; we can see the amazing magical incidences that occur in regular life. I have selected 31 events in my life, for example, seeing my beloved dog’s spirit pool around her body when she passed and becoming a wispy, diaphanous blue scarf as it floated up and up, curling right through the ceiling. Transparent hiking companions, trees flashing at night, hearing the magic in Brother Wind, experiencing the mystery of beekeeping – all speak to the workings of the Earth and the Spirit around and through us.
Each chapter is a self-contained short story. Each describes something that has occurred in my life, with a personal glimpse into my deep love for Mother Earth and the beauty and magic that enhance our walk in this lifetime. Along with the 31 chapters, I have created an illustration for each reflecting its essence.
This reviewer’s comments sum up well the intention of my book:
“Sue Lion’s Fox Light is a masterpiece of words of wisdom, magical stories, and art that brings everything to life in a powerful way. As I read Fox Light I was deeply moved from tears to joy and moments of healing laugher. Stories are what make us uniquely human, and Sue’s stories carry a deep resonance that peers into life’s mysteries and miracles. I could imagine myself in a circle around a crackling fire with bright stars overhead.
Each story is like a pearl on an heirloom necklace that will be a priceless legacy for many years to come.”
