The Craft of Life is a practice based on a philosophy called identity theory in which individuals, couples, families, and groups explore their biographies to discover the key elements that compose their personal psychology. Through this process, you will discover the origin of your fears and insecurities, which will allow you to understand how they operate in your life. You will also identify the behaviors you use to mask your genuine feelings—all of which prevents you from building conscious, authentic relationships. As you proceed, you will rediscover unfulfilled emotional longings, which you’ve carried since childhood. Much of the dissatisfaction in your life is rooted in these deep, unfulfilled yearnings, which you surrendered in childhood to avoid your parent’s disapproval. Your surrender gave birth to the unfortunate belief that your deep emotional desires are unattainable, when, in fact, they are not. This method teaches you to see and understand the direct relationship between your perceptions and beliefs (cause) and the outer forms and emotional content that compose your life and relationships (effect). It is a practice that transforms inner work (self-exploration) from a nebulous process into an actual craft. You will begin to see yourself and your behaviors, attitudes, and life circumstances with remarkable clarity, and, then, through the accompanying exercises, introduce genuine change into your life and relationships. The result is a clearer sense of purpose, inner calm, and life fulfillment.
