Poetry is an expression of life. From the heart of man bursts the expression of words. The poet’s job is to capture this expression in short and concise form.
Cracked Out of My Shell is the outcome of the whimsical collection of such poems. The author, Tom Racanelli, explores such subject matters as:
The author delves into the intricate meaning of such material—with the realization that merely exploring the surface level does not create an efficacy in understanding.
By boldly looking at such subject matter, Tom explores with simple quietude and poetic license the freedom of being alone with one's thoughts and candidly expressing them with over 40 poems in this collection.
Instead of allowing the mind time to apply its rudimentary censors, the poet aspires to stringently adhere to and quaintly utter a particular line of thought. Such an idea may suddenly come while looking at a leaf on a tree or may build over time concerning a typically taboo subject such as sexuality or death.
From "Finding a Still Heart" to exploring the other side of death on a soul’s journey, Cracked Out of My Shell will uplift and inspire the reader using the magical tone and utility of poetic expression.

From an early age in life, Tom Racanelli has recognized the awesome power of words. It wasn't until college though that he first recognized and experimented with the succinct and distilled quality of poetry. In fact, his first poem came to him after meeting a new friend in the middle of the night in his college dormitory.
Since that time, Tom has returned to this art form, time and again, documenting various time periods and experiences in his life. Most recently, he spent one and half years living mostly alone in an remote part of California, and delved deeply into the subject matters expressed in this collection.
Tom has enjoyed speaking his poems to audiences in local communities, and hopes that these words offer the reader insight and inspiration in the subject matter covered in these poems.
