An Altar Boy Goes East is a brilliant, humble, and inspiring story even skeptics can embrace. The reader is challenged to take a deeper look at Eastern and Western philosophy and religious practice…and into their own souls. Author Ted O’Brien, a devout Catholic raised in a small Western Massachusetts town, becomes fascinated by the magnificent stories of Jesus healing the sick. His journey to discover how Jesus healed is described in captivating detail: from the intricacies of growing up and coming to terms with Jesus, the Bible and the possibility of healing as a real and accessible skill to navigating the tensions between Catholicism and Eastern philosophies. We see how Ted discovers, and later embodies, Jesus as healer. For many Christians, especially in the West, the suggestion that we might have something to learn from Eastern teachings might make us uneasy, or even angry. This notion seems to contradict traditional Christian philosophy. Ted teaches us to overcome our fears and rechannel our energy as a healing force through the sophisticated integration of Eastern and Western Spiritual disciplines. The revelations are startling as cultures collide in the visionary book, An Altar Boy Goes East.
