Shannon Rigsby, a former journalist, is now the public information officer for a large suburban school district. Her first pet was a chicken. Shannon and P. Jay met when she worked for the newspaper, and he ran the printing press. The pair live on a farm in Oklahoma and the idea for the book was born the day they couldn't find their 13th chicken.
