Synopsis

When a college student, a housewife, an elderly wheelchair-bound women and a small boy go missing in Virginia, Sam Osborne is called into the case. He works with young police detective Mark Brady try to find out how the disappearances are connected. Are they looking for a serial killer? Are the victims still alive? Can they find the connection before time runs out? As they work together, Sam and Mark form a friendship that helps them both get through difficult discoveries about their own lives. Sam faces another painful reminder of when his own son disappeared. Mark learns to let go of his professional ambitions enough to let the fiery redhead connected to the case into his heart. Neither could predict, however, how this story finally ends.

A long-time newspaper columnist who didn't start writing books until she was in her eighties and who celebrated her 90th birthday as Architect of Fate was released. Besides the Fate Series, Swope also writes short stories and collaborated with her daughter on Holiday Connections.

A wordsmith with 40 years of experience writing and editing for magazines and other periodicals. Parente has spent most of those years also creating fictional stories. Besides working with her mother on The Fate Series and Holiday Connections, she's writing a young adult novel and short stories.
