Synopsis
Former minor-league baseball player Jimmy Bailey spent four years in incarcerated after taking a plea deal for a crime he didn't commit. He believed freedom awaited him on the day his sister, Debbie, picked him up from Walpole State Prison, a maximum-security facility in Massachusetts and brought him home to live with his mother in North Weymouth, Massachusetts.. Little did he know that both he and Debbie, as well as others they knew and loved, would face stalking, kidnapping, and more from people associated with the prison, and, even though Jimmy was no longer behind bars, he still didn't feel free. Begun as a sequel to the 2017 novel Empty Seats by this author, Still Doing Time Iis a journey into intrigue, crime, conspiracy, kidnapping, baseball, and even a little romance, set in eastern Massachusetts in 1976. A touch of feminism, introspection, soul-searching, and racism cap off this novel, which also interacts with several celebrities of the time.

À propos de l'auteur
Following more than four decades in public relations/marketing/media relations for not-for-profit and governmental agencies, Wanda Adams Fischer decided to parlay her love for writing into fiction, with her award-winning debut novel, "Empty Seats" in 2018. Raised in Weymouth, Massachusetts, she often uses her hometown as part of the environment for her writing. In addition to writing, she has also hosted a folk music program, "The Hudson River Sampler," on WAMC, the Albany, New York National Public Radio Affiliate, since 1982. She is a singer/songwriter and has released one CD called "Singing Along with the Radio. She lives in Schenectady, New York, with her husband, Bill Fischer, a retired physician, and their dachshund Oscar. They have two adult children and seven grandchildren.

She puts him in his place and embarrasses him in front of a few other guards. Little do either Jimmy or Debbie realize that this incident will change their lives.While he was in prison, Jimmy clung to a letter he'd received from the man who owned the Boston Red Sox, promising him a job at Fenway Park when he was finally finished with his sentence. Jimmy also worked with his cellmate, a Black man who couldn't read, to help him earn his high school diploma. Jimmy observed, first-hand, the social justice issues facing Black people following desegregation efforts in Boston in the early 1970s.Both Jimmy and Debbie discover they're being stalked and followed by mysterious people around Cambridge and their home town of North Weymouth, Massachusetts. Jimmy's former cellmate is badly beaten by inmates after Jimmy leave the prison; the prison warden is killed, leading to a major investigation by state and federal authorities.Cameo appearances by then-Governor Michael Dukakis, as well as Red Sox pitcher Bill Lee, appear in this book.
