Synopsis

In preparation for this study, the plan called for a study on the ground, by a group of selected American and German officers, of the methods of supply of the German First Army during its advance in 1914, through Belgium into France, as the right element of the German forces. General von Kuhl and General von Bergmann of the German Army each agreed to prepare a military treatise on the supply and transportation of General von Kluck's command (First Army), with such observations on organization, concentration, and troop movements as would be in keeping with the subject.
