Dr. Eduardo Ferro dos Santos is an Associate Professor at the University of São Paulo (Brazil) with a transdisciplinary academic background. He holds a Habilitation in Health, Safety, and Environment (USP), a Postdoc in Educational Technologies (UNESP), a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Production Engineering, and undergraduate degrees in Mechatronics Engineering and Physiotherapy. Dr Ferro dos Santos teaches and supervises at undergraduate, graduate, and specialization levels across multiple institutions, focusing on Human Factors Engineering, Educational Technologies, and Sustainability Engineering. Internationally recognized, he received the 2023 IEA/Tsinghua International Prize for his significant contributions to ergonomics. Beyond academia, he provides consulting, training, and project development services, having worked with over 500 organizations in Brazil and abroad. As editor, he demonstrates a strong commitment to advancing ergonomics in shaping sustainable and human-centered industrial futures, aligning scientific rigor with social responsibility and technological progress.
Professor Marcelo Soares is a volunteer professor in the Graduate Program in Design at the Federal University of Pernambuco and visiting professor at the Federal University of Maranhão, Brazil. He previously served as a full professor at Hunan University and SUSTech in China. He holds a master's in production engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and a Ph.D. from Loughborough University, with postdoctoral work at the University of Central Florida. He served as ABERGO president for seven years and on the International Ergonomics Association board. Professor Soares has published approximately 50 journal articles, 190+ conference papers, and 110 books/chapters. He authored "Ergodesign for Product Design: A Human-Centered Approach" (published by CRC Press in English, Portuguese, and Chinese) and co-edited several handbooks on Human Factors. His research focuses on ergonomics, usability, user experience, and product design. He is a Certified Professional Ergonomist and received the 2023 IEA Fellow award.
