Synopsis

High-flying forensic accountant Thomas Crawford couldn't be happier. Having been made partner in a prestigious accounting firm in downtown Toronto, his desire to get out from under the suffocating grip of his abusive father has finally been fulfilled. But that very night, Thomas finds himself behind bars, accused of a horrifying crime that he can't remember committing-the death of a young, pregnant woman in a fatal collision.

Detective Dottie Zane, a determined investigator who works for the Toronto Police Service, is tasked with investigating the case, but right from the get-go the details don't add up, and her team's blunders only deepen the mystery. Complicating matters, a detective from the Ontario Provincial Police inserts himself into the web of intrigue, casting shadows over the investigation and Dottie's personal life. Meanwhile, the dead woman's grieving husband, Antonio Franco, decides to use his mob connections to deliver his own form of justice.

As fragments of Thomas's shattered memory resurface, a relentless race against time ensues. With his devoted wife by his side, they embark on a perilous mission to unveil the truth, battling not only to clear his name but also to stay alive. With each new revelation, readers are pulled deeper into a tangled web of lies, where alliances blur, motives twist, and the price of redemption grows steeper by the second.
