It’s Hull Fair again.
It comes every October, and for one sweet, glorious week, the crowds, the lights, and the noise upend Walton Street. The folk of Hull love it and loathe it in equal measure.
Someone has made a right mess of the young woman Bev picked up on the York Road. She says her name is Jerusalem, and she’s on the run. The man after her is a people trafficker from Amsterdam called Uncle George, and she’s valuable to him.
Bev should really know better than to get Our Dave and Avenue Cars mixed up in this.
A port city like Hull might be the perfect place to smuggle people into. It’s got everything—if you can pay well enough. Uncle George knows the grey streets of Amsterdam, but he doesn’t know these grey streets, and they hide much more than you’d expect, especially when the fair’s in town.
If he had any sense at all, Our Dave wouldn’t get in Uncle George’s way... but you know Our Dave.
