Wild Seas, Wilder Cities is a “wild-seeded” collection of short stories, poems, memoirs, environmental articles and illustrations from 54 unique contributors, all concerned with showing the positive side of our relationship with the earth.
The many writers and poets represented in this book have all given their work freely to support the vital work of the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust in its repair and maintenance of the Solent seagrass meadows.
Climate change is in everyone’s thoughts these days. When we watch the news
and read the papers, it’s very easy to despair and consider the battle lost, but
the news reports are only the ripples on top of the sea. Down below, in calmer
waters, small changes are happening. Ordinary people are achieving
extraordinary things without fuss or fanfare, and it’s all adding up.
This book is a celebration in prose and poetry of those changes. There are many
messages to be taken from these pages. There are inspired ideas, startling facts,
and good laughs.
The most powerful message of all was almost incidental to the projects
undertaken. When we heal the planet, we also heal ourselves – friendships are
formed, lifestyles are changed, and we allow ourselves to reconnect with nature.
