He also speaks publicly on social justice issues and leads workshops to help move members of the community towards healing. His first collection of poetry, Words from a Field Negro, was recognized by the Pikes Peak Arts Council. He received the People’s Choice Golden Ticket Award as top author in Colorado Springs for 2019.
