Synopsis

What if everything you've given your life for is a lie?

The Company asks three things of its agents:

• Do not stop taking the pills.
• Do not deviate from the brief.
• Do not trust anyone from the past.

Kong's spent his life following these rules. The Company raised him. Trained him. Gave him purpose: to keep humanity safe, the timeline must be protected. It's a thankless, soul-destroying task. After all, people will always choose greed, apathy, and convenience. But at least his job matters - or so he tries to believe.

Then he meets Joe.

Beautiful, infuriating, and impossible to ignore, Joe claims the timeline Kong's spent his life protecting is a lie. That the future isn't fixed, and the people Kong hunts may be the only ones trying to set things right.

Now Kong is caught between the Company that raised him and a man they call a terrorist. A man who may be the first person to ever tell him the truth. And he needs to pick a side quickly, because time is finally running out...

"In the Slip embraces sensationalism or existentialism, as in the necessary need to 'experience' for confirmation of reality. As a time warp book, Lee surprisingly holds a well-structured novel that smartly guides the reader through a messy timeline. (...) Overall, Lee's crafted a premise that shatters conceptualization -- no idea how she pulled this off, but I am so glad she did." - Writer's Digest

"In The Slip is uniquely Lee. While it shares some classic SF and dystopian fiction tropes with other works, Lee manages to turn these into something wonderful." - Vector Magazine

"A potent blend of traditional concepts with a twist and modern delivery." - Ian Whates

"FD Lee effortlessly blends the DNA of time travel and cyberpunk to create a twisty and original beast of a thriller." - Andrew Wallace
