Synopsis

Navigating This Workbook
A guided expedition into the art of character crafting, this book is designed to assist in building five (5) distinct characters. Each character in this workbook culminates with an overview of Freytag’s pyramid to aid in understanding the plot structure (the plot may change as you get more acquainted with each character). To ease the reading flow, I alternate between using 'he' and 'she' instead of 'he/she.’

Inside, you will find:

  • Fill-in-the-Blank Questions
  • Coloring Pages: Take a moment to unwind and spark creativity. You’ll find there are mostly fantasy-style drawings, as that’s my favorite genre. (dry mediums recommended).
  • Lined Pages for Notes
  • Creative Writing Prompts and Exercises
  • Five (5) Repeated Sections for five different characters

By the end of this workbook, you'll have forged a connection with your characters, comprehending their interactions within their world and with each other. Fill it out in sequence or skip ahead and come back if necessary.

THIS IS THE WORKBOOK I wish I had when I first started the craft of storytelling. Through years of writing, I've learned that characters are the heartbeat of fiction. Their complexities, strengths, and flaws captivate readers, drawing them into the worlds we create. A story with a mediocre plot but vibrant characters can shine, whereas even the most intriguing plots may falter if their characters lack depth.

The essence of fiction lies in its characters. Whether endearing or despised, it's the intricacies of their personalities that grip the reader's imagination. Understanding and animating 'well-rounded' characters is key to hooking your reader's interest. It's not just about what your characters do, but why they do it, that will keep your readers turning the pages.

I encourage you to spend a couple of hours, or a day or two, getting to know your characters before you start writing your wonderful tale.
