Hermie Brambleweed is a college freshman and feels his game is improving after earning a spot on the men's bowling team. Although he isn't too crazy about college, he had to enroll as a full-time student to keep his spot on the team. The collegiate experience has helped him better understand the game, but it still hasn’t improved his luck in local tournaments. During a collegiate event, Hermie runs into an old friend who tells him about an upcoming tournament in Dallas during the Christmas break. Hermie and his friends make the trip to the "Big D" to participate. Hermie is having great success and just as he reaches the finals, he runs into a girl he hadn't seen in almost two years ... a girl that he practically wrote off. Being nervous, he loses focus and loses his match. He really had a good feeling about winning the whole thing, but now he wants to spend time with her and does. A short rendezvous with her during the "Spring Break week" only strengthens their relationship. One weekend during the summer vacation, Hermie and his friends drive to the coast to visit this girl and her friends. A weekend of fun and excitement was planned, but it's quickly transformed into a series catastrophic and tragic events when a criminal mind executes his sinister plan. The lives of these young adults are altered forever and many dreams will never be realized. In the end, the criminal is brought to a cowardly version of justice in Hermie’s suddenly vengeful mind. The weekend is capped off understanding that Hermie and his friends found something wonderful then lost it all atthe hands of a selfish and worthless individual. It becomes a time to remember the good times while trying to forget the bad ones. In conclusion, the ties that were expected to be severed with these malicious acts were actually strengthened though courage and perseverance. Hermie and his friends go home as changed people.
