Synopsis

The primary objective in studying A Catechism on Bible Doctrine is to have each student know the Word of God. This is possible only if the student has an open Bible and will, without exception, faithfully turn to every passage of Scripture associated with every point made. Please make sure you do this. Though such a process is more time consuming it is also more profitable. At the end of the study you will be asked to give an account of yourself on this matter. May the Lord give you grace to honor this specific requirement and teach you much-needed patience. There will be a spiritual reward if you honor this specific course requirement and that is an increase of biblical knowledge while growing in personal faith. “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Rom. 10:17).The general pattern of this Study Guide is fourfold: •Review, •Reflection and Discussion, •Personal Application, and •Scripture Memorization. The purpose of the general pattern is designed to have the student interact not only with the text and Scripture but to reflect and discuss with a Mentor (whomever the student decides to use) what is being studied. “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend” (Prov. 27:17). Without encouragement and personal accountability the study of A Catechism on Bible Doctrine will be merely an academic exercise. There must be more to spiritual studies than rote memorization and regurgitation of the material. The Word of God must take hold of the inner man in order for the soul to feed and feast upon the glories of the true Word, even our Lord Jesus Christ.
