Synopsis

My love of poetry started in a strange way when I was 8 years old. My 4-year-old sister made up a poem about our beloved little Pekinese dog, Cookie. Thus, “Cookie Lost Her Leash” started a love of poetry that has lasted until now, when I am 79 and trying to gather my writing together for my family and friends. When I read through my memories in poetry and prose, I can see how I changed from a rather self-involved young mother to my present self, who is much different and, I think, a much better person. I have always turned to writing in my most emotional moments and it has helped me cope. I just hope that others might benefit from something they read and might be encouraged to express themselves and thus share their own life experiences.
