Synopsis

Adam and Eve could communicate directly with the Godhead, particularly with Jesus as he walked with them in the cool of the day. Once sin was introduced to first parents, that relationship was ruptured. No longer would God meet with them because there was an obstacle. Sin, the result of the original rebellion of Lucifer, and repeated through the rebellion of Adam and Eve replaced the harmony which previously existed. A two-part divine solution was introduced.First, the office of Priesthood was instituted and secondly the office of Prophet. These offices of prophet and priest were not the same. They did not have the same function and it helps to be able to differentiate clearly between the two. Simply put, the priest was a mediator who spoke to God on behalf of man, while the prophet was a mediator who spoke to man on behalf of God.
