Synopsis

There are two symbols in Japanese Kana script which represent change. One signifies opportunity, the other, danger. Richard believed very firmly that to cope  successfully with change, you had to know the  difference. He pictured the ugly site buildings, the  expanse of rubbish, and the heavy plant battering the common. This would not be change for the better.

Welcome to 'Abholme', a Yorkshire village as idyllic as it is fictitious, currently in contention for the prestigious local heritage award. Life here is sheltered, and patient, and the residents of this precious Eden would like to keep it that way. Unbeknownst to them, however, the creeping bureaucracies of local council and the aesthetic travesties of municipal waste threaten not only to destroy the quiet beauty of Abholme but even the lives of the inhabitants themselves.‘Dump’ is a tongue-in-cheek foray into the absurdities and intrigues of life in rural England. A winding depiction of Yorkshire life that quickly cascades into a taut tale of intrigue and suspense. Expect sex, cricket, murder and some tremendously volatile 'real' ale.Dump is the first novel from Yorkshire born novelist 'Greg Banks'.
