Synopsis

Grace Mullen, Midwestern wife, mother, and successful healthcare executive, is the nurturing person everyone can count on. On the surface, she seems to have it all. However, her constant dedication to everyone in her life, including her inattentive husband, has left a void in her life. Through a professional networking site, she finds love in an unexpected connection. She senses that this perfect man isn't who he says though. Reeling from the loss of her mother and her crumbling marriage, Grace travels to Montreal to be a featured speaker at an international pharmaceutical conference. There she meets the man who has stolen more than just her heart. When she uncovers his truth, rather than blocking him from her life, she wants to know more, even when he could put her future at risk. Told from the perspective of both Grace and her unexpected soul mate, the story is set in Nebraska and halfway around the world. When Grace learns the truth she has been dreading all along, her lover overestimates how far Grace's forgiving and kind hearted spirit can be strained. Now he must choose between the woman he loves and the only way of life he has ever known. Against her better judgment, she can't let him go, but can she make him give up the lies he hides behind?

À propos de l'auteur

I am originally from Southern Illinois (which is very unlike Chicago and the rest of the state). I have worked in healthcare since 1996 and am currently a radiology administrator for an academic health system in Kansas City, Kansas. My husband, our two teenagers and I live on a small farm and raise Belted Galloway cattle (Oreo cows) and chickens. We hope to expand our family soon through the adoption of two teenage boys. I also teach Quality Improvement as an adjunct for Washburn University in Topeka.I love the Midwestern work ethic and kindness. Like my character, Grace, I try to see the good in people, even when it isn't there. Having been a scammer's intended, but (thank God)unsuccessful target myself, I have done extensive research about internet romance scams, in particular those involving West African young men and have spoken to people involved. It's an unfortunate situation for both victim and scammer but a wealth of potential for fiction writers. The books I have found about online romance scam have all been nonfiction, either personal experience or how to protect yourself. I hope through fiction, the reader will get both an education and a great story.I am currently working my next book about a Scottish Belted Galloway cattle farm and the woefully inexperienced American IT analyst who was gifted it by his aunt.
