This book is an account of personal experiences encountered while learning to master the ego. This exploration was experienced through an approach that blends indigenous wisdom teachings and gestalt therapy exercises. Some of these experiences are shared in the form of teaching stories. Teaching stories provide a framework for demonstrating perspective and purpose for doing things a certain way. They can help give meaning to life lessons and experiences that can be applied personally and in some cases foster personal growth. This book is personal in that there are many personal experiences detailed within it. It is also an illustration of human experience, it is an us story. We all experience a wide range of life circumstances and feel as if our stories are unique and different from our neighbors or relatives. Part of the intention with these words is to speak simply and in a practical way about the commonality of our collective human experiences. It is meant to be inclusive and the hope is that it will speak to those who enjoy feeling that sense of community and connection through the human experience. It is about learning and suffering and hope. It begins with a naive young mother and ends with a middle aged grandmother who is wiser for the experiences of life but continues to seek and learn and experience the joy in doing so. There are also some simple exercises outlined in the book for those who are curious about engaging in some exploration of this type on their own. This book is an expression of gratitude and of accomplishment and I hope you enjoy it.
