Hamilton - the creator of the dollar - continued his legal and business activities in New York and was active in terminating the legality of international slave trade. The Vice President of Burr applied for the post of Governor of the State of New York in 1804, and Hamilton campaigned against him as unworthy. Attacking the Burr, he challenged the duel on July 11, 1804, in which Burr shot and mortally wounded Hamilton, who died the next day.
