Synopsis

The year-long trek with missionary J. C. Powell continues. Unique insight on the Yoruba people of Nigeria together with his missionary experience is visible in many of the daily devotionals.J. C. and Rosa Powell and their daughter Mary Hester were a strong missionary presence in Nigeria helping shape the Christian community in the time of emerging Nigerian national identity. Collectively they served 87 years on the mission field in the early and mid twentieth century. Multiple illnesses and many difficult crossings of the Atlantic challenged their careers including Rosa's liner once being sunk by a German warship. Details of their lives may be found in The Powells of Nigeria: 87 Years of Missionary Service by David Gasperson. Available from Amazon.com.
