It seemed as if nothing and no one could interrupt the peace and happiness in that peasant home, built in wood and protected by a wire fence for the hens, chickens, pigeons, cats and dogs do not enter. The chirping of birds, the sound of rivers and streams, were the sweet melodies that reached the ears of Maria Salome. Beginning the mountain, people saw the road made of stone for giving easy access to the house, which shone for its blooming garden hanging in baskets of wire, making that place a beautiful refuge of love. In the evenings of that solitaire and calmed days, Maria Salome, sitting on a huge stone, watched the path where her husband would return tired of the hard work in the field, then, she happily, gathered the large skirt while singing run to meet him The man lightened the step, feeling himself die of emotion when he saw that little brunette woman, with long braids, black eyes, a thin figure and slender to go towards him to merge into a strong hug and so united, came home they had built with their own hands. While his wife served the food, Manolo washed and changed clothes. At night, to the light of the moon, feeling the gentle breeze that brought them the river, they surrendered full of happiness to their love, sure that very soon they would have its fruits in beautiful, healthy and playful children that told them dad and mom. After a few years, Manolo asked himself: - Why did not the children come home? Nevermore mentioned theme to his wife for not to hurt her feminine feelings. Maria Salome was twenty-six years old and they had ten of married. He adored his wife, but it was time to have six or seven children running among the fields, lowering the calves, collecting eggs, fruits or flowers to take to their mother. Manolo felt very disappointed but he would never tell her. If she could not have them, they would continue as they have until now, they would grow old together in their separate world in the mountain where they lived. When she was old, she surely continued being the most beautiful woman. The peasants of the region would envy him for having her. This feeling of vanity soothed his pride of frustrated father. He also thought, they were in war and times were difficult to maintain a large family. At least on that quiet mountain, soldiers and bullets did not come to interrupt their harmonious and simple lives. Manolo and María Salome lived on their own. His parents were far away. He had a brother to who did not know because he was born after he left home. Neither of them said anything but they thought that the children would no longer decorate the house with their laughter and games. That tragedy had to happen to the children so craved arrived at home of Manolo and Maria Salome. Unfortunately this was a curse that filled then with pain without allowing them to know peace, happiness and tranquility sought for so long. Only when a good person arrived, with a pure heart and soul, free from all sin, they could achieve the peace sought for more than twenty years. This little one, being innocent, redeemed the sins of his ancestors carrying the guilt on his shoulders. From generation to generation they always asked: - "Guilty or innocent?
