In the history of Anglicanism, beginning in 1549 with Thomas Cranmer's Book of Common Prayer, there have been in many circles an emphasis on the power and presence of the Holy Spirit. However, after the Reformation, the power and gifts of the Holy Spirit operated on a much lower level and in some cases was non-existent. Many individuals attempted to reclaim the power of the Holy Spirit and in some instances this resulted in new denominations being formed and in others it led to a renewed presence of the Holy Spirit. This work contains a Biblical, Historical and Theological framework for the continuation of spiritual gifts in the Anglican tradition and how through a model for training men and women these gifts can be reclaimed and function in our worship services. Thus bringing a renewed sense of the Holy Spirit much like that experienced by John Wesley, George Whitefield, Charles Wesley and others.
