The research has been conducted on state owned power generating organizations of West Bengal, India. In fact, Indian power sector was under strict regulatory norms with a motive to provide electricity to the all sections of the society. After 90s, globalized economy induced Indian power sector to change its age-old style of functioning. Enactment of the Electricity Act, 2003 started formal reforms in this sector. Initially power generating organizations were mainly owned by the government and they were concerned about quantum of generation. Introduction of private players in the market after 90s compelled the power generating organizations to concentrate on cost effective generation for maintenance of their sustainability. As far as cost effective generation of electricity is concerned, emphasis is to be given on both human as well as non-human aspects in order to improve efficiency.
