Synopsis

An American billionaire whose assets are worth much less than he claims on loan applications and insurance forms is suffering from falling real estate values in NYC. The figures are important because he then inflates the values for the assets he uses to claim large amounts of depreciation. His secondary sources of income are suffering as well. His fraudulent university which teaches hopeful students paying exorbitant tuition, “how to be rich like me,” is being sued by hordes of suckers with crushing student loans. He fights endless lawsuits for failure to pay in part or failure to pay at all.His resort properties are struggling primarily from overpricing and gouging. The one part of what he calls his “empire” that makes some money is the licensing of his family name. Jo Dido is nothing but a self-promoter and relentless in its pursuit. He has been known to contact news organizations and radio stations pretending to be third parties to sing the success of Jo Dido Enterprises.He owns beauty pageants so he can brazenly enter dressing rooms and gawk at the nearly nude contestants. Any women who complain never seem to win even third runner-up. The pageants are leaking money but it is one of his only chances to meet gold diggers eager to ingratiate themselves to a billionaire.He reads that Russian oligarchs are becoming the richest people in the world in a country where no rules apply. The economy of South Korea is as large as Russia’s. The president of Russia is suspected by him of holding the title he craves. He longs to be a front runner again, he longs to be the richest man in the world.He brings one of his pageants to Moscow in an attempt to meet the president and to charm local investors into building the Moscow Dido Tower. The Russian SVR sees him as an attractive target for blackmail and extortion. He falls neatly into their trap.Finding no way to escape the legal predicament into which he is enticed, he decides to play along with the oligarchs.Back in the USA, he stumbles across another idea.
