Once avidly devoured by youth across the States, these short novels are home to one of the greatest heroes in American literature, though his thrilling exploits are now sadly largely lost to time. Once upon a time, the adventures of Deadwood Dick, outlaw and Prince of the Road, were read by millions of boys, who awaited his next adventure hungrily.

Originally published as weekly dime novels, these short novels are now being republished in a series of volumes, each containing 4 or 5 works by Edward L. Wheeler. Now, Wheeler's later novels are presented, many of which have not been republished since their first appearance in the 1880's. The eponymous hero makes an appearance in at least one story in each of these continuing volumes, though quite a few star other characters.

This Volume, the 25th, and last, in the series, contains the dime novels:

Rustling Rob, The Tramp's Protégé; Or, The Master of the Cedars.
When the ex-tramp Frank Staples learns that his old travelling companion has returned to do him wrong, he must rely upon the keen witted young tramp, Rustling Rob, to look out for his interests. But with a web of treacherous villains to deal with, Rob has his work cut out for him, and little knows that he himself is an important part of the plot.

Poorhouse Pete, The Postal Clerk Detective; Or, The Precious Patrimony.
Unwillingly taken from the poorhouse as an indentured servant by a wicked farmer and his even crueller wife, Pete Perkins is apprehensive about the future. But he is soon helped out by mysterious benefactors who definitely know more about his past than he does, and seemingly have ulterior motives for their assistance.

Fred Flip, The Pack-Peddlar Prince; Or, The Witch of the Black Swamp.
Near the village of Fairfax, Virginia, Fred Floyd meets local girl Freckles, and joins her to right an old wrong, foil the villainous plans of the De Bynvilles, and fulfil the vengeance of the Witch of the Black Swamp, all the while carrying out a secret mission of his own.

Deadwood Dick's Dust; Or, The Chained Hand.
In the very last Deadwood Dick adventure, the Prince of the Road and his fair wife and pard, Calamity Jane, are chased out of the mining camp of Satan's Snap for refusing to reveal the location of a nearby major gold strike. When the pursuing miners find the claim and move in to steal its wealth, Dick declares a war to the very death upon them.
