Synopsis

It is a privilege for us to present the book for the B.Sc Medical students for the Skill Enhancement Course in Botany-‘Ethnobotany’ in their 3rd semester under Choice based credit system (CBCS). The chapters of the book are in accordance to the syllabus prescribed by the University of Kashmir, Srinagar and Cluster University Srinagar. The book is the comprehensive collection of ethnobotanical knowledge from diverse sources like books, research papers, reports and other related material like reliable internet sources. It has been written to provide the students a comprehensive and up-to date reading material for easy coverage of the prescribed syllabus. Sincere efforts have been made by the authors to make each chapter a reasonably complete and unified account of a major topic or concept. The book has been written in comprehensive English for the better understanding by the students and many topics have been cleared by providing suitable examples. Each chapter follows sample multiple choice questions and sample descriptive type questions for exercise by the students.The authors acknowledge the contribution of students namely Shubeena Jabar and Mir Akash who helped with adding MCQs and model descriptive questions at the end of each unit. We hope that both the teachers as well as students shall find the book helpful. Moreover, suggestions for further improvement of the contents in the book shall be thankfully acknowledged.
