Synopsis

The aim and purpose of the Subud International Cultural Association (SICA) is to foster the talents that we receive in the latihan kedjiwaan of Subud from our true human soul (jiwa). Bapak once said, “In the future when a Subud member performs in front of an audience, the whole audience will be opened. The world will be shocked.” There is no evidence that this has happened yet. But much of what Bapak received has come true, so there is no reason to doubt that this will also happen. All we need to do is to pay attention to what we receive in the latihan. For example if we sing in the latihan, we need to listen to the quality of our voice and the feeling that we have when we are made to sing. It is that feeling that we should experience whenever we sing in our everyday life. So it is necessary for us to make an effort to sing in that way. Bapak also advised us to feel the latihan in all of our daily activities, whether it be singing, dancing, playing an instrument, or just walking and speaking. In fact he advised us to feel the latihan in every heartbeat and action that we make. That may sound impossible, but in my experience, it is not. That is the purpose of this enormous gift that God has given us. We should be able to worship God in all of our actions and activities. If we really put that into practice in our daily life, then it should really be possible for a Subud performer to open the entire audience as Bapak received. Amin!
