Synopsis

One of the oldest epics in the world, the Ramayana is believed to have first been written seven thousand years ago in ancient India by the poet Valmiki. The Ramayana narrates the story of Prince Ram of Ayodhya who is banished by his step-mother to the forest for fourteen long years. He is accompanied by his wife Sita and his favourite brother Lakshman. They have many adventures in the forest before they encounter the evil ten-headed demon Raavan. A terrible battle ensues but will Ram be able to defeat Raavan with the help of his monkey friends led by Hanuman. Will good triumph over evil at the end? In the Hindu religion, Prince Ram is believed to be an incarnation of the God Vishnu and is widely worshipped along with Sita and Hanuman.
