It’s late at night and the heroin addicted freelance journalist for two local newspapers has some very serious problems involving sex, drugs and violence. One drug gang is coming to hunt him down to jump him, another drug gang is hunting him down to kill him, the homeless, paranoid, drug addicted hookers he dated just to get the inside story on this epidemic won’t leave him alone, other beautiful young women are dropping dead all around him from rage and suicide related deaths and both of his Editors are not only beginning to suspect he is a drug addict, but they're also demanding his report on the Opiate Epidemic plaguing the region. With few other options he decides his only option is to blow town to lay low for at least three to five days, maybe get off the drugs once and for all, and then worry about whether or not he is in love with some woman from Minnesota. After escaping his own office building, without being spotted by lookouts from either drug gang he drives as fast as he can to the safety of the Basketball Hall of Fame parking lot where he strategizes his next move, which is buying a train ticket to the city of Chicago some 1,000 miles away. As the train is leaving the station he is checking his email and notices an email from NBC offering him the opportunity to audition for ‘The Voice’ so he figures with all the sex, drugs and violence now behind him, he might as well look into this challenge of rock and roll and take them up on their offer as conveniently enough, NBC has scheduled Chicago to be one of the cities for qualifying auditions for the upcoming season. He knows he is not in denial as far as facing his drug and gang related violence problems and this entire trip could be one great big phony escape routine that is sure to backfire and blow up in his face if he’s not careful, but if he is careful, he might just end up biting off more than he can chew by walking right into the woman of his dreams on five different occasions all while running from his addiction, hiding from the violence it has created and watching the unicorns he can just swear are smiling at him, as if tempting him to give chase.
