Synopsis

This article of our faith is the most important in the Church, and was not invented by man, but came to us by divine revelation. The other festivals of the church year present to us the great works of God, in which we can recognize His will and mercy towards us. On Christmas we celebrate the fact that God became man. On Easter we commemorate the resurrection of Christ our Lord, who by His own power, as true God and man, raised Himself from the dead. On Pentecost we remember how the Holy Ghost descended visibly upon the apostles and began His work in them and other believers. In like manner all the other festivals exhibit unto us God as manifest in some work upon earth.
