Synopsis

The National Purity Congress: Its Papers, Addresses, Portraits (1896) is a book edited by Aaron Macy Powell. It is a collection of papers, speeches, and portraits from the National Purity Congress, which was held in Chicago in 1895. The congress was organized to discuss issues related to sexual purity, including prostitution, venereal disease, and the sexual exploitation of women and children. The book includes speeches and papers from prominent figures in the movement, such as Anthony Comstock and Frances Willard, as well as portraits of many of the attendees. The book provides a unique glimpse into the social and political climate of the late 19th century and the efforts of activists to promote sexual morality and protect vulnerable populations. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
