Synopsis

Sir Bevis: A Tale Of The Fields is a novel written by Richard Jefferies and published in 1899. The book follows the story of a young boy named Bevis who grows up in the countryside and develops a strong connection to the natural world around him. Bevis spends his days exploring the fields and woods, observing the wildlife and learning about the plants and trees that surround him.As he grows older, Bevis becomes more interested in the history of the land he lives on and begins to uncover the secrets of the past. He discovers that his ancestors were once knights who fought in battles and defended their land against invaders. Inspired by their bravery, Bevis sets out to become a knight himself and defend his home against any threats that may arise. The book is a coming-of-age story that explores themes of courage, loyalty, and the importance of protecting the natural world. It is a nostalgic look back at a simpler time when people were more connected to the land and the animals that lived on it. The book is beautifully written and offers a vivid portrayal of life in the countryside during the late nineteenth century. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
