Questioning the universalizing claims of contemporary architectural phenomenologists, David Karmon emphasizes the infinite variety of meanings produced through human interactions with the built environment. David Karmon is Professor of the History of Art and Architecture in the Department of Visual Arts and head of the Architectural Studies program at Holy Cross. The author of The Ruin of the Eternal City (2011), he is a Fellow of the American Academy in Rome, and incoming Chief Editor of the Journal of the Society of Architectural Historians.
