Synopsis

An Abridgment of the Book of Martyrs is a historical and religious book written by John Foxe and published in 1810. The book is a condensed version of Foxe's original work, The Acts and Monuments of the Christian Church, which chronicles the history of Christian martyrs from the time of Christ to the 16th century. The book begins with a preface that includes the living testimonies of the Church of God and faithful martyrs. The testimonies are meant to serve as a reminder of the sacrifices made by those who gave their lives for their faith, and to inspire readers to continue to live a life of faith and devotion. The main body of the book is divided into chapters that cover different periods of Christian history, starting with the persecution of the apostles and ending with the Reformation. Each chapter includes accounts of the lives and deaths of notable Christian martyrs, along with historical background and context.Throughout the book, Foxe emphasizes the importance of faith and the courage of those who stood up for their beliefs, even in the face of persecution and death. The book is intended to inspire readers to live a life of faith and devotion, and to honor the memory of those who gave their lives for their beliefs. In Different Ages Of The World, And The Corrupt Fruits Of The False Church, In The Time Of The Apostacy. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
