The Drapier's Letters is a collection of political pamphlets written by the famous Irish author and satirist Jonathan Swift in 1724. The letters were written under the pseudonym M. B. Drapier and were aimed at exposing the corruption and injustice of the English government in Ireland. The letters were a response to the Irish government's decision to impose a new copper coinage on the Irish people, which would have greatly benefited the English merchants but would have been detrimental to the Irish economy. Swift's letters were widely read and helped to galvanize the Irish people against the proposed coinage. The book, published in 1903, contains all seven of the original letters, along with an introduction and notes by the editor. It is considered an important work of political satire and a landmark in the history of Irish resistance to English rule. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
