Written and researched by two Hoover apologists, this is about as good a defense of Hoover's actions just before and during the Great Depression as anything that has come out since, the Wall Street Journal's editorial board being no exception. Told mainly through a series of official correspondences; it is interesting if you are interested in the political, economic and monetary details of the executive branch's role in the early stages of this period of history. Myers was a Professor of Politics at Princeton University and prepared the State Papers of President Hoover for publication; Newton was a member of Congress from 1919-1929 and Secretary to the President from 1929-1933.
