Recent advances have made it possible to create small, powerful, energy-efficient, cost-effective sensor nodes capable of adaptation, self-awareness, and self-organization. This book captures the current state of sensor network technologies and explores applications for sustainable development in agriculture, environment, energy, healthcare, transportation, and disaster management. Organized as a collection of articles authored by experts in the field, the text provides scientific tutorials and technical information about smart sensor networks and their use in remote patient monitoring, improving safety on the roadways, and more.
